The terms “industrial design” and “product design” are actually synonyms. “Industrial design” describes the fact that it is about industrial, i.e. mass-produced products, as opposed to handcrafted production. Nevertheless, we take the widespread usage into account and differentiate the term industrial design from product design in a way it refers to capital goods used in industry/manufacturing in the broadest sense.
