As part of a comprehensive project to creative innovative kitchen appliances for the Chinese market and regarding the trend of growing numbers of coffee fans in China, we developed the concept of a modular coffee machine that combines important core functions of the coffee world with a tea maker and a hot water dispenser. The machine replaces up to 4 individual devices, reducing the space required, which usually is very limited in Chinese kitchens and reducing the use of material and resources that would be required if several individual devices were purchased.
Module for pads or capsules.
While traditional brewing via filtration method is comfortable if a larger amount of coffee has to be prepared, a separate capsule module provides the convenience and taste variety of the coffee capsule world á la Nespresso. The filter is pushed to the left into the parking position, on the right the capsule module can be inserted. Again, interchangeable inserts for different capsule or pad providers are conceivable.
Module for tea half automatic tea preparation.
A suitably designed glass jug with stainless steel strainer turns the device into a tea maker. The automatic pouring of hot or boiling water after reaching the preset temperature as well as an acoustic signal after end of individually set brewing time help to make the process safe and comfortable.
Module for hot water.
Due to the structure with the kettle on top, the device can also be used as a hot water dispenser. Temperature and quantity presets are adjustable.
Another fundamental idea is the "semi-automatic" preparation of the filter coffee, which provides the user not only with a first-class taste through the special brewing process and the integration of a grinder, it also allows the user to experience the process of preparation itself - from the odor development of the freshly ground beans over the manual shifting and positioning of the filter container up to the optically impressive spectacle of the boiling water, it all will perceived as a sensually enriching experience.
